COMMUNITY MUSIC FESTIVAL FOR GLOBAL AWARENESS
Organization: Children for Children
Date: June 6, 2009

Help us fight malaria! Support youth voice! Come see performances by NYC youth, including music, spoken word, and more-and help with a service project to raise awareness. Featuring CFC’s Sweat for Nets program for malaria prevention, one of the globe’s most pressing issues. All ages.


TEEN VOLUNTEER DOG TRAINING PROGRAM
Organization: Animal Haven
Date: Ongoing


High school students work with a top professional to help train shelter dogs and increase their chances of being adopted. The program requires an 8-week commitment and meets Thursday afternoons from 4-6pm. Once the course is completed, students may work at Animal Haven as an adult volunteer. Ages 13-18


CARDS FOR HOMEBOUND SENIORS
Organization: City Meals on Wheels
Date: Ongoing


Brighten the day for a homebound senior citizen by making a card to be delivered with a CityMeals-on-Wheels meal. The work you put in on these cards will truly make a difference to the person who receives it. This project can be completed from your own home, using the CityMeals card template. All ages.


OFFICE ASSISTANT
Organization: Manna House Workshops, Inc.
Date: Ongoing


Manna House, a center for the performing arts with an emphasis on jazz, needs a high school student to provide administrative assistance such as filing. This is a big help to a community organization.

BIRTHDAY CORPS
Organization: DOROT
Date: Ongoing


Deliver birthday cakes, handmade cards and craft gifts to homebound elderly for their birthdays. Take the time to visit, share some cake and celebrate the special day! Volunteers usually work in teams of three. We are looking for high school students with a couple of hours to spare after school or on Sundays. Ages 13-18

VOLUNTEER AT THE HARTLEY HOUSE
Organization: Hartley House
Date: Ongoing


Volunteer to serve and strengthen the Hell’s Kitchen community. The Hartley House will find the right fit for you. Ages 5+

TUTOR
Organization: Homes for the Homeless
Date: Ongoing

Volunteer and tutor with the Homes for the Homeless team. Call for further details regarding our opportunities. Ages 14+
