Helping people with special needs

Although we hear the term very often, many still don't know what are special needs. People with special needs are those who require some sort of aid for a disability that could be medical, psychological or mental. Those who suffer from Autism, dyslexia, Down Syndrome, blindness and others may be considered to have needs that are extra special. There are many individuals with disabilities in a community, aiding them teaches kids to be empathic and tolerant with those who are different to them. At Kidsforcommunity.org we want you to get involve and help others out. Wether you are doing it by yourself or with friends and family, there are just a few things that are more rewarding than helping someone have a better life. That is why we came up with a list of great, fun ways of community service so you can start contributing and helping those who need you.

1.At school, set up a buddy system for children with special needs. If you can't stat a body system try to become their friend on your own and encourage other to do so as well.

2.Donate Braille books to the local library for blind or visually impaired people or help them raise money to buy the books.

3.Volunteer to work with children with disabilities.

4.Read a book or the newspaper for blind people for a couple of hours a day.

5.Make gifts and send the to kids in the hospital. You can also donate some of your old toys.

6.Help deliver meals to homeless people.

7.Work with a group on an art project.

8.Build a wheelchair ramp for someone in your community.

9.If someone in you neighborhood can clean their yard because of their disabilities help them clean it.

10.Put together a library at a children's hospital. You and your classmates can donate enough books to put together a small library.

11.1.Hold an Athletics Contest at school that include students with special needs.

12.Visit a rehabilitation center. Learn about patients and volunteer to help.

There you go 12 great ways of getting yourself involve and become part of the solution and not the problem. Volunteer now to help those that have special needs.

The kids are the world's future. We should nurture, guide and protect them. We should teach by example not by , because action speak louder than words, like . This is why giving is important so that they know the difference between right and wrong.
